Fun, fitness,
accomplishment.
A non-profit, volunteer-run club with programmes for every age and level, and professionally certified coaches.
2026-27 registration
Open now — and it should be the first thing you see.
2026-2027 season registration is live and linked from the home page. In the weeks when parents are choosing what their children do from September, that belongs at the very top of the page.
Non-profit and volunteer-run.
Programmes for all ages and levels.
Members of Skate Canada.
Professionally certified coaches.
Skating for fun, fitness and accomplishment.
Read from the live site, 30 July 2026
Registration is open and current. The page around it is not.
There is an advert above your club name
The first line on the page reads “This website was built on Wix. Create yours today.” It sits above the club’s own name, and it is selling website software to the parents you are trying to sign up.
The address is not yours and cannot be remembered
smithersskating.wixsite.com/smithersskatingclub is not something anyone reads out at the rink or writes on a poster. No club-owned domain is registered — we checked three obvious ones and all are free.
The footer says 2020
Six years. It is the number a parent checks to work out whether what they are reading is still true — which is a shame, because the registration link above it is completely current.
The club is doing the important part right — 2026-27 registration is live and linked. What is around it belongs to somebody else’s software.
What would change, in order
1
Get an address of your own
Something you can say out loud at the rink. A .ca domain is about twenty dollars a year and the club owns it, not a platform.
2
No adverts on your own page
The first thing a parent reads should be the club, not a pitch for website software.
3
Put registration front and centre
You are already open for 2026-27 — that deserves the top of the page in the weeks parents are choosing.
4
A year that updates itself
So the footer never again looks older than the club is.
